Fly Fishing

Blackberry’s fly fishing program is uniquely positioned in a region with a year-round fishing season, and we are proud to offer our guests the finest possible fly fishing experiences in East Tennessee. Our staff of professional guides can quickly introduce beginners to the basics, or help the seasoned angler by providing intimate knowledge of our fisheries. Novice or old hand, local knowledge is hard to beat, and our guides are more than happy to share their favorite spots and tactics. Whether you’re hoping for a trophy-sized trout on Hesse Creek, exploring the 800 fishable miles of wild trout streams in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park or floating down beautiful stretches of well-known tailwaters, your guide will show you a terrific day on the water.

Blackberry Farm is home to what may be some of the best trout water in Tennessee. Beneath a canopy of trees, Hesse Creek harbors rainbow and brown trout ranging from eight inches to eight pounds. For the beginner, Hesse Creek offers the perfect place to learn from the ground up or, for the experienced angler, an opportunity to chase bigger fish. The stream is a catch and release fishery and reserved for guided fly fishing trips.

Off-Property

  • Smoky Mountains

A sportsman’s paradise, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park adjoins Blackberry Farm. Its superb fishing destinations are within easy reach and are bountiful Spring through Fall. The park contains more than 700 miles of fishable water and is truly a rare wild trout sanctuary—none of the streams are stocked. While rainbows and browns populate most of the major streams, the native Southern Appalachian brook trout still thrives in some of the higher elevation tributaries.

    • Available in 4, 6 or 8 hour experiences. 45-60 minute drive.

    • Available Spring-Fall

    • Ages five and up, minors must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Float Trips

Float through densely wooded hillsides and green farm pastures in a Mackenzie-style drift boat in pursuit of rainbow and brown trout on some of our areas most beautiful tailwater river systems. These off-site, guided float destinations feature the beautiful Clinch and Holston Rivers. From technical dry fly fishing to exciting streamer stripping, these floats can be a true east coast fly fishing treasure.

    • Full-day adventures (8-10 hours). 1-1.5 hour drive.

    • Available Spring-Fall

    • Ages 10 and up, minors must be accompanied by an adult.
